Honda CB200X vs RE Himalayan vs KTM 390 Adventure vs Xpulse 200

There has been a gap in the affordable adventure tourer motorbike segment in India for a long time. Things started to change when Royal Enfield introduced RE Himalayan. Initial batches have a lot of issues but most of them were sorted with newer versions. Another affordable option was introduced with Hero Xpulse 200. Both the RE Himalayan and Hero Impulse are more of an off-road performer than on the highway. The introduction of KTM 390 Adventure made it the first relatively affordable dual-purpose adventure tourer under INR 4 lakhs. It packs plenty of punch in terms of power and torque to be suitable for both off-road and highway touring. However, the price of 4 Lakh is still expensive for the millennial riders community. Honda went wrong with the pricing of the Honda CB500X. The CB200X is decently priced for its features and more than capable of occasional exploring and adventures.

With Honda introducing CB200X in India everything changes. It doesn’t pack the punch as RE Himalayan or the KTM 390 Adventure but it does a fantastic job for its price. It is packed with useful features that will help it perform decently well on highways as well as difficult roads. The design looks modern and aesthetic. It certainly is an attention grabber, especially with those turn-led mounted-on handguards and golden USD front forks.

FEATURES of HONDA CB200X

There are plenty of features on the new Honda CB200X which makes it an attractive choice. Here is a detailed list of features on the Honda CB200X.

Engine

The engine is derived from a 184.4 cc single-cylinder engine from Hornet 2.0. Talking about the performance, the Honda CB200X is powered by a PGM-Fi fuel-injected Air-cooled 4 stroke single-cylinder engine. The engine’s compression ratio is 9.5:1 and generates 17 hp @ 8,500 rpm with 16.1 N-m Torque at 6000rpm. The numbers are impressive for a sub 200cc bike and will help return a good mileage.

Tall Visor

Honda CB200X features a tall sporty windscreen. The Visor is dark in color. A tall visor minimizes the wind buffeting and makes the highway rides more aerodynamic. The tall visor will also help in building road presence.

Upswept Exhaust

One of the most desired features for any off-road motorbike is a high exhaust to help navigate water streams in muddy trails. Honda CB200X comes with a sporty-looking up-swept exhaust that will keep the waters out of the engine system.

Ground clearance

The CB200X has 167 mm ground clearance which is just average. For comparison, the KTM 390 Adventure comes with 200mm ground clearance and Pulsar 150 comes with 160mm clearance.

Fuel Tank Capacity

Honda CB200X has a 12L tank capacity. This should be enough to return a mileage well over 400Km with a full tank.

Mileage

The mileage of CB200X is around 40-50km per liter of petrol. It carries the same engine as Honda Hornet 2.0.

Undercowl

CB200X comes with a bash protector under-cowl. It is made up of high-density plastic and can take occasional bumps.

Alloy wheels

The Honda CB 200X sports alloy wheel on both front and rear. The alloy wheels come with Y-shaped spokes for better dual sports performance.

Knuckle Guards with winkers

The clutch and brakes come covered with factory-loaded knuckle guards. These hand protectors have integrated LED turn indicators which grabs a lot of attention. A fresh design is always a welcome signal.

Split Seat

The seating on CB200X is split and double-leveled. This provides an ergonomic riding comfort for both pillion and riders.

USD golden front fork

BMW and TVS introduced golden forks in their tourers. The addition of Upside Down Golden Front Forks in Honda CB200X invites a premium feel with a comfortable ride. Surprisingly the more expensive and powerful CB500X does not come with USD forks.

Fully digital LCD

The digital instrument cluster is fully LCD and contains detailed trip and information about time, fuel range, gear ratio, rpm, and speed.
